MEGA Suite 2007

by Stephen
(Wellington)

Of all the big packages on the market, the one that has impressed me the most is the MEGA Suite from Mega International

Mega 2007 is a fully integrated toolset sitting over a single, proprietary, object-oriented repository.

It will export and import XMI so you don't need to feel that you'll be locked into a business process improvement tool package that won't let you go. Though I've been using it since version 4.5 and see no reason to change to another. Especially since v7 has dramatically improved the interface. It truly is a joy to use...

Having an OO repository behind the UI means that the symbols in the diagrams, and even the diagrams themselves, are independent objects. And to go with that, there is a powerful query language so that you can check consistency as you build your models. Should you wish, you can link almost anything with anything else but the defaults are based on modelling standards that are sufficient for 98% of cases.

How can you use the models?

If you are using a business process improvement tool like the Mega Suite, what can you do with all these models?

- Once you have a repository with objects correctly linked and described, with a click of a mouse and a few selections, you can have an intranet site that can be used as discussion material in order to further refine the work you've done or training material when it's finished.

- Or, you can produce documentation that satisfies the leading quality standards. Each procedure document that you create (an RTF document created directly in Mega so there are no interfacing issues) can be linked to an ISO 9000 Chapter and presto! a Quality Manual for the taking...

Ideal if you're a user, not a technician.

You can appreciate the technical niceties of a business process improvement tool like this but what's important is usability and how the tool supports your business.

And the Mega Suite stacks up... But don't just take my word for it. A BPM Today Product Review voted Mega as giving the Best Return on Investment for a Quality-Oriented (ISO9000 or Six Sigma) BPM product.

"There are many technologically well-designed BPM products, but when looking for companies with deep, real-world knowledge of common business business processes, the list gets short in a hurry. Mega clearly belongs at the top of the list of those industry players that are steeped in quality processes...

"In fact, Mega's approach to quality processes is so complete that it stands as the example for other BPM companies when moving forward in creating value-added propositions against specific, common process scenarios."

And that's why I am, and you'll be, so happy using it. It's the best robust, methodology-independent business process improvement tool on the market. It's a product that allows you to work the way you want to work.
